Dairy Packaging Suppliers Align to Provide Innovative Shelf-Life Extending Packaging

February 22, 2006, Batavia, Illinois – Portola Packaging, Inc. and Plastic Solutions of Texas, Inc. (PST), announce a joint agreement to market  technology, closures and bottles that extend the shelf life of oxygen sensitive products.  The FDA approved and patent pending technology retards the growth of bacteria thus helps retain the quality of a product for a longer period of time.

The system, which is not a typical ESL system, can be implemented with simple adaptations and can conservatively extend the sell by date by 5 to 10 days or more. Considering US dairies dispose of over $1 billion per year in expired fresh milk, the savings implications are significant.
