Mar 24, 2000 -Portola Packaging, Inc. is pleased to announce the purchase of the remaining shares of Shanghai Portola Packaging Company Ltd from Aquarius Drinking Water Company.

SPPC was formed in 1998 between Aquarius Drinking Water Company of Shanghai, China and Portola Packaging of San Jose, USA to produce and market closures and bottles for the China and Pac Rim area. The company started production, profitably, in April of 1999. The company will now be run as a wholly owned subsidiary of Portola in China.

SPPC completes Portola Packaging's global marketing expansion and services the Pacific Rim from Hawaii West to the eastern part of Turkey. Sales and service for Portola's products are now handled by the plant located in Shanghai, China.

Portola Packaging, with headquarters in San Jose, California, designs, manufactures, and markets proprietary tamper-evident plastic closures and equipment for the bottled water, dairy, juice, and food industries.
