Portola Packaging Named McKesson Water Products Company Supplier
of the Year
Aug 26, 1999 - Portola Packaging recently received McKesson Water Products
Company's (MWPC's) Supplier of the Year Award.
To be eligible for the award, a supplier must have achieved MWPC
Supplier Certification status. Portola Packaging was selected
from MWPC's more than 3,000 suppliers. MWPC developed the Supplier
Certification program was developed six years ago to promote continuous
improvement in the quality of suppliers' products, services, and
value. The goal of the program is to recognize high levels of
supplier quality and service that are important to MWPC and its
customers. Tom Van Dixhorn, vice-president, Technical Support
Operations, said that, "Portola Packaging demonstrated excellence
in every part of the customer/supplier relationship".
Last year was the first year that MWPC presented awards for the
achievement. One of the key considerations for receiving this
award is that the supplier be ISO certified or the equivalent,
a qualification that Portola fulfilled in the past year. Other
criteria the supplier is rated on include: plant audits, product
or part performance, quality assurance programs as well as customer
satisfaction, on-time delivery, rejections, vendor safety and
environmental considerations.
